The protest, organized by the works council, brought together staff responsible for maintaining schools and sports facilities. With a loud demonstration, the workers demanded urgent solutions from the contractor, whom they hold directly responsible for the economic instability they have faced for years.
The conflict has moved beyond the local level, prompting political groups to refer the situation to the Labor Inspectorate and the Ombudsman. The filed complaint seeks to clarify the status of payrolls and social security contributions for approximately 350 workers affected by this issue.
Faced with rising tension, the Parla City Council announced that it will intervene directly in salary payments if the contractor fails to meet established deadlines again. This measure aims to ensure staff compensation while the contractual dispute is resolved.
The protests will continue, as the works council has scheduled new demonstrations in front of the town hall for May 19 and 21, maintaining pressure to secure a definitive solution to their labor demands.
