Getafe City Council has begun construction to convert a walk-through fountain in San Isidro Park into a new children's splash pad, scheduled for completion by summer 2026.

The Maintenance Department of the Getafe City Council has commenced work to transform a former walk-through fountain, located next to the hermitage in San Isidro Park, into a new children's fountain. The aim is to provide a fun space for the youngest residents during the hottest months of the year.
A specific usage schedule has been established for the facility, taking into account rest periods and nighttime hours during the summer, based on the experience of the city's first children's fountain.
These works, with a budget of 285,000 euros, are expected to last approximately two months. The new fountain is anticipated to be operational for the hottest days of next summer, 2026.
The Councilor for Maintenance, Roberto Fernández, highlighted that this is the second infrastructure of its kind provided for the children of Getafe. The first was opened last summer on Huelva Street, in the Juan de la Cierva neighborhood, and has been very popular.
The new facility is integrated into the second phase of the ongoing new San Isidro Sports Center. This expansion aims to offer residents of one of the city's oldest neighborhoods a larger, more modern, and accessible leisure and meeting area.
This larger project, with a budget exceeding 8,500,000 euros, also includes the construction of the Gregorio Serrano football field, for which the first stone was already laid. Additionally, it will feature multi-purpose rooms, changing rooms, and the relocation of the central offices for the Sports Delegation.
