The Getafe City Council, via the municipal company Getafe Iniciativas (GISA), has announced the resolution of the 2026 Commerce Fund call. This initiative has a total budget of €274,150, aimed at financing projects designed to boost proximity commerce, hospitality, and tourism within the municipality.
Key novelties for this edition include the introduction of a Citizen Card, intended to foster customer loyalty in local businesses. Furthermore, there is an increased focus on female leadership projects to promote equal opportunities in the business sector.
This year's allocated budget represents an increase of nearly €9,000 compared to the previous edition. According to municipal sources, this rise is attributed to the "high quality, interest, and viability of the proposals submitted."
The Citizen Card will facilitate promotional campaigns, discounts, and loyalty programs, contributing to increased consumption and strengthening the relationship between citizens and local businesses. Business projects will be undertaken in collaboration with entities such as the Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of Getafe (Acoeg), the Association of Labor Societies of Madrid (Asalma), and Associated Businesswomen and Self-Employed (EMA).
The 2026 Commerce Fund combines established initiatives, such as the Christmas Market, El Puchero, and Comercios con Alma, with new proposals focusing on the digitalization of commerce and the application of artificial intelligence. The goal is to enhance the competitiveness and adaptation of the local sector to evolving consumer habits.
