The Getafe City Council has denounced the mobility situation affecting residents of Getafe Norte and Los Molinos due to activity at the Iberdrola Music venue, located in Madrid. The council criticizes that, instead of designing safe access and effective public transport from the capital, improvised solutions are being imposed, such as a provisional traffic light under the M-45 for attendees of the Coca-Cola Music Experience festival, which exacerbates the gridlock.
The implementation of provisional traffic light crossings on high-capacity roads does not resolve the flow of tens of thousands of attendees and blocks daily access to homes and workplaces in Getafe. This measure allows concertgoers to park in Getafe Norte or walk from the Los Espartales station, disregarding Getafe's technical requests to manage entry and evacuation flows within Madrid's municipal boundaries.
To mitigate the inconvenience for residents of Getafe Norte, the Getafe City Council will prevent non-resident vehicles from accessing the Coliseum parking. Additionally, improper motorcycle parking will be monitored, and taxi and VTC ranks will be prohibited.
The Municipal Government points to a network of shared responsibilities. The City Council of Madrid is criticized for granting unilateral licenses without consulting mobility plans with Getafe and for promoting a venue that generates noise disturbances in Villaverde and Getafe. The Community of Madrid is singled out for financing and promoting events while evading its mediating role, unlike the protection offered to areas in the capital's center. The Government Delegation is accused of approving devices detrimental to Getafe instead of demanding safe routes in Madrid. Finally, private promoters profit from macro-events without bearing the cost of access or noise.
The Getafe City Council will intensify sound emission control campaigns at both the Coca-Cola Music Experience and the planned concerts for Shakira's macro-stadium at the Iberdrola Music venue.
