The Getafe City Council has confirmed the registration of 23 'peñas' for the 'Día de las Peñas', surpassing initial forecasts and ensuring a festive day with a Grand Prix and various activities.

The first call for the 'Día de las Peñas', within the framework of the patron saint festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, has received a remarkable reception in Getafe. A total of 23 'peñas' have joined the initiative, three more than the twenty initially planned, ensuring a massive participation of at least a thousand people.
The main event will take place on May 24 at the Ciudad de los Niños. As a notable novelty, the 'peñas' will compete in a fun Grand Prix, a circuit of challenges designed to foster friendly competition and entertainment. Additionally, a space will be set up for participants to have their meals, and inflatable games will be organized, with representatives from each 'peña' taking part.

"The great reception of this proposal opens the door for residents to enjoy our festivities much more, both those participating in the 'peñas' and those who come to enjoy that day."

The City Council has decided not to hold a draw and has chosen to accommodate all registered 'peñas', expressing satisfaction with the public response. This decision underscores the local corporation's commitment to citizen participation and enjoyment during the celebrations.
The Getafe festivities will also feature a prominent musical program. Following the descent of the Virgin from the Cerro de los Ángeles, the pre-festivities will include performances by the Orquesta La Misión and the Orquesta Panorama at the Acuartelamiento Aéreo (ACAR). The following weekend, attendees can enjoy concerts by Kiko Veneno and the Orquesta La Tribu, with a night dedicated to rock, as well as a performance by David Bustamante at the Ferial. Sunday will feature Sidonie and a tribute to Super Submarina, while Monday will conclude the program with the breakthrough group of the year, Sangujuelas del Guadiana.
