The initiative, launched in 2024 by the Department of Childhood and Youth, seeks to consolidate chess as a space for learning and coexistence. The club fosters skills such as concentration, reasoning, patience, planning, and decision-making.
Registrations will be open until next September 18. Students who were already part of the club must renew their registration, keeping their usual schedules on Thursdays, unless the instructor deems it appropriate for a higher level. New joiners will be divided into two shifts on Tuesdays, organized by age: from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM for children aged 7 to 12 and from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM for young people aged 13 to 18.
Each group will have a maximum of ten places and will require a minimum of six participants to start. New students will begin classes on Tuesday, September 22, while existing students will resume activities on Thursday, September 24.
Classes will be led by Andrés Ingunza, the responsible instructor. The club aims to be a space for developing useful daily skills, beyond the rules and strategies of chess.
The creation of the club originated from proposals gathered in youth participation spaces and from the municipality's Secondary Education centers, with the Department of Childhood and Youth committed to continuing youth-led initiatives.

Paula de Llanos Bustos, Councillor for Childhood and Youth, highlighted that chess is an educational tool and that continuing the Chess School Club responds to the interests of young people.
Interested individuals can register and obtain more information at the San Martín de la Vega Civic Cultural Center. Places are limited, and new groups will be launched provided the minimum number of participants is reached.
