The Alcorcón City Council has processed nearly a dozen sanctioning proceedings in its first three months of operation thanks to cameras installed to combat illegal dumping.

The devices, a result of collaboration between the departments of Citizen Security and Ecological Transition, have been deployed in critical areas of the municipality to facilitate waste detection, intervention by municipal services, and identification of alleged offenders.
Coordination between the Municipal Police and the Environment Department has been key to locating several dumps and advancing sanctioning procedures.

"Illegal dumping causes significant environmental damage, degrades our common spaces, and directly affects the quality of life of our residents."

Trinidad Castillo · Fourth Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Ecological Transition, Mobility, Education, and Environment

"When we announced the installation of these cameras, we said we would not allow Alcorcón to become anyone's dumping ground. Today, we can confirm the measure is working. They allow us to detect dumping, act quickly, and identify those who commit these acts so they can be held accountable."

David López · Second Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Citizen Security
The council reminds that these practices not only cause severe environmental harm but can also foster pest proliferation and degrade the municipality's natural and public spaces. Therefore, continued surveillance and interdepartmental coordination are planned.
This municipal strategy, combining technology, police action, and citizen awareness, aims to protect Alcorcón's urban and natural environment.
