Individuals interested in starting an activity in an existing small business can apply for this aid, which seeks to prevent closures due to a lack of successors. The initiative, which encourages transfers both among family members and to new self-employed individuals without kinship ties, has an initial budget of 40,000 euros.
The Councilor for Economic Development, Elisabeth Melo, highlighted that the initiative "adds more opportunities to strengthen Getafe's small businesses, promoting the transfer of businesses that offer such good quality service and close attention to residents in the neighborhoods".
GISA will support transmissions made between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026, with amounts of 2,500 euros for rent, assignment, transfer, or sale, and 2,900 euros in cases of owner retirement.
The effectiveness of this program was demonstrated last autumn when nine local businesses were rescued, preventing their disappearance and facilitating transfers to new entrepreneurs.
This call is part of the various support lines that GISA manages annually. In 2025 alone, the company granted nearly 1,200,000 euros in direct aid to local merchants, hoteliers, self-employed individuals, and businesses, consolidating Getafe as a benchmark in protecting the economic fabric.
Furthermore, in 2026, 41 grants for digitalization, adaptation to the Verifactu Regulation, and improvement of energy efficiency have been approved, with an investment of approximately 75,000 euros, exceeding the initial budget due to the call's success.
These initiatives are in addition to others such as the ‘Jóvenes Con Getafe’ program, ending on December 31, which supports local businesses with a 50 euro voucher for young people to explore their products; and the ‘Compra en tu Barrio’ campaign with ACOEG, promoting local consumption and supporting neighborhood businesses, where for a limited time, each purchase made with the Getafe City Card enters a draw for 5 prizes of 100 euros.
