The initiative, presented on March 9 by a neighborhood platform, formally sought the alteration of municipal boundaries. Residents argued for a “physical and functional unity of the core” with Villaviciosa de Odón and an improvement in municipal services with the change.
Following the request, the administration sought reports from the city councils of Alcorcón and Villaviciosa de Odón, in addition to a territorial technical report. On April 13, the platform was asked to formally establish a promoting commission and submit the legally required documentation, with a warning that failure to rectify deficiencies within ten days would lead to the request being considered withdrawn.
“"The application does not meet the required conditions."
As the requested documentation was not provided within the established period, the withdrawal and archiving of the file were agreed upon. The resolution concludes that the platform “has not provided the required documentation (…) which is considered indispensable to continue with the processing of the file”.
Despite this setback, the door remains open for the initiative to be resumed. The archiving “will not be an impediment for the interested party to initiate their request again once they have all the requirements provided” in the corresponding state regulations.
