Last Saturday, the Alcorcón City Council and APLAA organized an event to recognize the trajectory of a leader who presided over the entity for many years. His work focused on helping people with alcohol addiction problems, making the association a local benchmark.
Throughout his tenure, more than 2,600 residents of Alcorcón have passed through APLAA, seeking a new stage away from alcoholism. The tribute was attended by local authorities, including the Mayor of Alcorcón and the Councillor for Public Health, as well as the current president of the association.
“"The most special moment came with the intervention of the honoree himself, who was surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues from the association on a day full of emotion and recognition."
In another area, Alcorcón has achieved a historic milestone in employment. The city closed the month of April with 6,919 unemployed people, the lowest figure since records began at the State Public Employment Service in 2005.
These data place the city below seven thousand unemployed in an April month, something that had not happened in two decades, despite the constant population growth. Compared to the previous year, unemployment fell by 358 people, a decrease of 4.92%, exceeding the regional average. The improvement has especially benefited women and people between 24 and 44 years old.
In the sports field, AD Alcorcón suffered another 2-1 defeat against Cartagena, complicating their aspirations to reach the playoff positions. The team showed problems in attack definition and defensive fragility, which reduces their margin of error in the competition.
