Alcorcón Honors its Municipal Police and Unveils Pride 2026 Program

The city holds recognition events for its police force and announces a month of activities focused on diversity and inclusion.

Alcorcón has paid a moving tribute to its Municipal Police at the Teatro Buero Vallejo, acknowledging their public service and commitment to the city. Concurrently, the program for Pride Alcorcón 2026 has been presented, promising a month of diverse activities.

The Teatro Municipal Buero Vallejo served as the venue for an emotional tribute to the Alcorcón Municipal Police, recognizing their public service vocation and commitment to the city. During the ceremony, the City Council presented medals and decorations to officers and municipal staff in appreciation of their daily work.
Mayor Candelaria Testa praised the police force's efforts, highlighting crucial interventions such as rescues, assistance to victims of gender-based violence, and support for the elderly. She also emphasized the more than sixty years of history of the Municipal Police. The event included a review, flag raising, and a wreath-laying ceremony for fallen officers, marking the first time such an event has been held in the city.
Furthermore, the Alcorcón City Council has unveiled the program for Pride Alcorcón 2026 at the Centro Joven Yolanda González, reinforcing the city's standing as a leader in diversity and inclusion policies. Mayor Candelaria Testa announced that the program will span an entire month, encompassing cultural, sports, leisure, and debate activities, with the raising of the rainbow flag as a central event.
Councilwoman Carmen Martín detailed some of the key initiatives, including the Pride March, the Diversity Night Mile, Drag Bingo, and various themed days. Journalist Juan Sanguino, the grand marshal for this edition, highlighted his connection to Alcorcón and the city's evolution towards a more inclusive community, emphasizing a program designed for all ages and families.
This summer, Plastiletras will offer its Urban Camps, aimed at children aged 4 to 14, with a wide range of activities. From June 22 to September 4, participants can enjoy daily pool access, games, swimming lessons, and specialized camps in sports, arts, various themes, and an English Camp. Activities will take place at Inacua La Canaleja and Smartfit Villaviciosa de Odón, with overnight camp options for a more comprehensive experience. Places are still available.
Alcorcón's cultural and leisure agenda features several events. The Jowke venue, located at avenida de San Martín de Valdeiglesias 22, presents entertainment options for the coming days. Today at 8:30 PM, the Teatro Buero Vallejo will host the play “El barbero de Picasso”, starring Pepe Viyuela and Antonio Molero, with tickets still available. Additionally, on the 24th, the Escuela Municipal Manuel de Falla will offer a free concert at 12:00 PM in the same theater, featuring choirs, a band, and an orchestra. Admission is free until capacity is reached and tickets can be collected at the box office.
