The city of Alcorcón has paid tribute to its Municipal Police in an unprecedented event, where medals and recognitions were presented for the first time after the approval of new regulations.

The event, held at the Buro Vallejo, served to acknowledge the dedication and public service of the officers. During the ceremony, medals and decorations were awarded to various members of the police force and municipal workers for their careers and commitment to the city. The mayor, Candelaria Testa, conducted the traditional 'inspection pass' of the Municipal Police formation, followed by the hoisting of the flag and the laying of a wreath in memory of fallen officers.
This marks the first time in the history of the Alcorcón Municipal Police that these distinctions have been granted, following the Plenary's approval of the regulations promoted by the Governing team. The ceremony also included recognitions for citizens for their collaboration, members of other Security Forces and Corps for their interventions, and individuals and institutions for their cooperation with the municipality. Crosses for Police Merit, plaques for retired workers, and Constancy Crosses for officers with over fifteen years of service were presented.

"Thank you on behalf of Marcos, the baby you saved; of Gonzalo, our 'miracle child', for the person you saved from suicide; but, above all, thank you on behalf of all the boys and girls who look at you on the street with admiration; the women victims of gender violence whom you assist and accompany; the elderly whom you take by the arm when they are disoriented. Thank you as mayor and as a neighbor."

The mayor also recalled the police force's work in Paiporta after the DANA storm and dedicated a posthumous recognition to firefighters Sergio and Jesús, who died last year in a fire.
For his part, the Councilor for Citizen Security, David López, highlighted the importance of having a municipal police force that is 'close, effective, and accessible, who knows firsthand the problems and challenges that can arise in every neighborhood, in every corner of our city, and who is part of the community in which we live'. Finally, Eduardo de María, head of the Alcorcón Municipal Police, valued the significance of these distinctions, 'which aim to honor exemplary careers, outstanding actions, and conduct that represent the best of public service'.
