Alcorcón will become the epicenter of municipal archiving for the Community of Madrid on June 4th, bringing together experts at the Viñagrande Civic Center.

The city of Alcorcón will host the Madrid Municipal Archives Conference on June 4th. The Viñagrande Civic Center will welcome professionals in archiving, transparency, and document management to discuss current challenges facing public archives.
The event will feature participants from the archives of various Madrid municipalities, including Madrid, Móstoles, Torrejón de Ardoz, Alcobendas, Tres Cantos, Algete, Paracuellos de Jarama, and Arganda del Rey, along with specialized entities. Key topics such as access to information, personal data protection, administrative transparency, and the application of new technologies will be addressed.
The official opening will be led by the mayoress of Alcorcón, Candelaria Testa. Throughout the day, there will be presentations, experience-sharing sessions, and debates focusing on the balance between public transparency and data protection, as well as the human factor and technological tools to ensure secure access to documentation.
A significant session will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the document management of municipal archives. It will analyze how AI is changing the way documentary funds are managed, consulted, and disseminated, with expert interventions and the presentation of technological solutions by specialized companies.
The conference will include an experience panel moderated by María Jesús Serrano de la Rosa, head of the Archive and Document Management Unit of the Alcorcón City Council, with participation from archivists from Madrid, Algete, Alcobendas, and Tres Cantos. They will share their practical experiences in document management and citizen access to information. The institutional closing will be handled by Miguel Ángel Palacios Retamosa, Councilor for Human Resources and Citizen Services of Alcorcón.
