The socialist mayor of Alcorcón, Candelaria Testa, has responded to criticism from mayors and spokespersons of the PP in the south of the region, who questioned the planned investment of 1.15 billion euros for the comprehensive renovation of the C-5 commuter line. Testa assured that this action will become a reality thanks to the «responsibility» of the central Government.
PP representatives had doubted the investment, citing the lack of state budgets and calling the initiative an «invention» and a «deception» to the municipalities. In response, the mayoress of Alcorcón attributed these statements to «interested narratives from the right», urging them to «work more and create fewer narratives».
Testa highlighted that the investment in the C-5, described as «the busiest line in Spain», will be materialized thanks to the action of a «responsible government». The line has historically suffered from problems such as delays, single-track operations, and collapse episodes, accumulating 217 incidents in 2025 and over 700 in 2023, according to calculations by the Community of Madrid.
Furthermore, the mayor blamed the PP for the inability of Alcorcón's local buses to access Príncipe Pío due to the works on the A-5. Testa stated that there are no updates and that the situation is «extremely unfair» to the residents, suggesting the problem is not technical, given that Almeida's buses do access the location.
Finally, Testa criticized the PP for the Community of Madrid's negative response to the extension of Metro Line 10 through Ensanche Sur to Móstoles, calling for «common sense» from the regional Government.
