Alcorcón's Cultural Weekend: Giants, Music, and Theater

The city offers theater, storytelling, concerts, and children's activities for the last weekend of May.

Alcorcón prepares for a weekend packed with cultural events, including puppet shows, live music, storytelling, and the traditional Giants and Cabezudos festival.

The last weekend of May brings a diverse cultural offering to Alcorcón, with proposals for all audiences including theater, music, workshops, and exhibitions. The Councilor for Culture and Festivals, Miriam Benítez, highlighted the quality of the program, emphasizing the musical comedy ‘Madness’ by the company Yllana.
The schedule kicks off on Friday, May 29th, with the storytelling event ‘Historias de boca a boca y cuento porque me toca’ at the Municipal Library Alcalde Jesús Salvador at 6:00 PM. In the evening, the Buero Vallejo Theater will host a special concert by the group Antara Korai at 7:30 PM to celebrate their twentieth anniversary.
The Puppet Center will present ‘Poesía de Navaja’ on Friday at 7:00 PM, a glove puppet show for adults featuring irreverent humor. On Saturday, May 30th, the same center will offer a children's workshop on creating aquatic puppets at 6:00 PM, followed by the highly anticipated musical comedy ‘Madness’ by Yllana and Primital Brothers at the Buero Vallejo Theater at 8:30 PM.
Residents can still visit the exhibition ‘Zambra’ by artist Laura Mora Peñalver at Las Vitrinas de Los Pinos until May 29th. The José Hierro and Almudena Grandes libraries are extending their special study hours until June 7th to assist with exam preparation.
On Sunday, May 31st, Parque Polvoranca will host the sixteenth edition of the Club Amigos Solidarity Race, organized by C.D.E. Amigos Valderas, promoting the sports inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The San José de Valderas Festivals will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its Giants and Cabezudos on Saturday, May 30th. The day's events include a traditional setup, a parade, children's activities, a foam party, tributes, a popular paella, children's bull runs, and music until late with DJ’s Vicente Colomo and Álex Colomo.
