The main works involved the construction of two wastewater pumping stations (EBAR) in the residential area of Los Cortijos. The Minister of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior, Carlos Novillo, visited one of these new hydraulic facilities, carried out by Canal de Isabel II.
Each EBAR is equipped with three pumps to elevate wastewater to the municipal sanitation network, solid separation systems, and a storm tank chamber. The public company has also installed 9.4 kilometers of collectors and force mains.
Carlos Novillo highlighted that these actions resolve a historical situation of discharges into septic tanks, improving environmental quality, strengthening system security, and organizing urban wastewater management.
The infrastructures are designed for a current flow rate of up to 20,000 liters per hour and a future maximum of 40,000 liters per hour, allowing for a doubling of hydraulic capacity.
Sevilla la Nueva also benefits from Canal de Isabel II's Plan Sanea, which optimizes municipal drainage infrastructures. The company is renewing over 4 kilometers of sewer networks in the municipality, with a total investment nearing €3 million, to enhance adaptation to extreme weather events and ensure citizens' quality of life.
