The Community of Madrid has approved an investment of €4.9 million to repair 13 roads affected by the major fire that occurred last summer in the Sierra Oeste.

The Governing Council has greenlit the expenditure for the recovery of over 130 kilometers of roads damaged by both the flames and the passage of heavy vehicles during firefighting operations. The General Directorate of Roads has already commenced work, which includes provisional signage, cleaning of 90,000 square meters of roadway, and reconstruction of ditches.
The interventions focus on sections of the M-501, M-505, M-507, M-510, M-512, M-521, M-531, M-533, M-537, M-539, M-540, M-541, and M-855 roads. These routes are located in municipalities such as Aldea del Fresno, Villa del Prado, Navas del Rey, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Pelayos de la Presa, Robledo de Chavela, Santa María de la Alameda, Colmenar del Arroyo, Valdemaqueda, El Escorial (in the district of Peralejo), Fresnedillas de la Oliva, Valdemorillo, and Chapinería.
The work is progressing as planned, with an estimated completion time of six months, although weather conditions may influence execution. In the coming weeks, damaged safety barriers will be replaced, slopes secured with metal mesh, signs and panels replenished, and roadway lines repainted.
