The Community of Madrid has allocated nearly €750,000 for the comprehensive renovation of several streets in the sierra municipalities of Fresnedillas de la Oliva and Zarzalejo. The regional government is carrying out works including resurfacing, paving, modernization of public lighting, improvement of road signage, and accessibility measures aimed at enhancing safety for both pedestrians and drivers.
The Deputy Minister of Presidency and Local Administration, José Antonio Sánchez, visited both towns to oversee the progress of the works. These interventions are part of regional investment lines designed to improve municipal services and the urban environment in smaller towns, enabling local councils to undertake necessary upgrades to basic infrastructure.
In Fresnedillas de la Oliva, resurfacing works are underway on Calle San Bartolomé, which include the modernization of public lighting and road signage. These improvements, funded with €150,000 through the Cooperation Plan for Works and Services, aim to regulate traffic and raise safety standards, with completion expected by the end of July. Additionally, eight streets have been paved with a budget of €430,000 from the Regional Investment Program, converting them into residential roads.
Meanwhile, in Zarzalejo, the Community of Madrid has invested €168,602 from the Beautification Plan in the remodeling of public space along Avenida de la Cruz Verde. The project focuses on promoting pedestrian mobility and enhancing accessibility, thereby improving the travel conditions for residents.
These investments underscore the regional administration's commitment to improving services and infrastructure in municipalities with smaller populations, prioritizing actions that directly impact citizens' quality of life and safety.
