The Lozoya Theater Group, directed by Justino Manzano Jiménez, presents a selection of four interludes by the renowned brothers Serafín and Joaquín Álvarez Quintero. The performance will take place next Sunday, September 20, at 12:00 PM in the Auditorium of the La Cabrera Humanities Center (Av. de la Cabrera, 96).
The play focuses on the "género chico" and Andalusian costumbrista sainete, characterized by lively dialogues, light humor, and tenderness. The interludes, written between 1899 and 1911, depict the small conflicts of daily life with endearing and resolvable characters, reflecting the affection that drives their protagonists.
Brothers Serafín (1871-1938) and Joaquín Álvarez Quintero (1873-1944), originally from Utrera, Seville, were prolific Spanish theater authors, premiering nearly two hundred works. Their costumbrista theater, often set in Andalusia, stood out for its grace and benevolent view of life, achieving great popularity and becoming members of the Royal Spanish Academy.
The Lozoya Theater Group is an amateur company from the Sierra Norte of Madrid with over thirty years of experience. They have staged about thirty plays, mainly in towns in the Sierra Norte, promoting classic Spanish repertoire.
