The event will take place at 10:30 AM in the council's Plenary Hall. The author will be accompanied by the Councilor for Health, Beatriz Matesánz, and the Councilor for Culture and First Deputy Mayor, Carlos Hernando. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
The work "La Sanidad en Moralzarzal" pays homage to the professionals who have cared for health in the municipality since the 17th century. Resulting from exhaustive research in the Municipal Archive and parish records, the book rescues the historical memory of doctors, surgeons, barbers, pharmacists, practitioners, and veterinarians.
Among its pages are anecdotes such as the arrival of the first registered surgeon in 1628, Miguel Calvo, the functioning of the "iguala" system for neighborhood healthcare, or the curious 19th-century council votes using chickpeas to elect or dismiss town physicians.
Antonio López Hurtado Zárate, passionate about local history, has based his research on primary sources, transforming administrative records into a relatable and fascinating narrative that recognizes the work of those who shaped the well-being of Moralzarzal over the centuries.
The event will be broadcast live on the City Hall's social media channels and will later be available on the official YouTube channel, MoralzarzalTelevisión.
