This new cognitive accessibility tool incorporates clear and simple visual aids to help understand schedules, locations, and potential sensory stimuli during festival activities. The goal is to ensure everyone can enjoy the celebrations under more suitable conditions.
The program includes visual indicators to identify potentially sensitive situations such as loud noise, large crowds, strobe lights, or fireworks. This allows families to plan their participation, choosing activities and time slots that best suit their needs.
Driven by the Inclusion Department, led by José María Escudero, the initiative aims to make the festivals a space for enjoyment for all, recognizing that different people require different support to participate fully.
As a complementary measure, the noise-free inclusive hour at the fairground (from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM) is maintained, reducing the acoustic impact of attractions. Additionally, a new Priority Access Fast Pass Bracelet is introduced for people with disabilities, and sensory kits with resources like noise-canceling headphones are being incorporated into Civil Protection devices.
This initiative arose from a suggestion by a mother of a child with autism, highlighting the importance of visual information for understanding and enjoying festivals. Galapagar thus reinforces its inclusion strategy in organizing major events.
