The Galapagar Town Council is preparing for the second edition of the San Isidro Awards, an event that recognizes residents whose work has left an indelible mark on the community.

These awards, which are consolidating as a benchmark institutional event, seek to honor commitment, excellence, and selfless work for the locality. The ceremony will take place on Friday, May 15 at 6:00 PM at the Jacinto Benavente Theater.
On this occasion, the Council has selected four prominent personalities for their contributions in areas such as education, sports, culture, and the social fabric of the municipality.
Among the honorees, the title of Illustrious Son of the Villa will be awarded posthumously to a municipal worker who dedicated his life to community service, promoting local cycling and defending historical and cultural heritage. His nomination arose from a request by two local sports clubs.

The Villa Merit Award in the Gold Category will be granted to a pioneer in adult education since 1989, recognized for her work in literacy and the social integration of women through sports and culture. She currently presides over the Third Age Association.
Another recognition in this category is for an indispensable figure in social life and popular traditions, an emblematic member of the Peña La Casina, promoter of cultural events such as the Romería de la Virgen de los Desamparados and the Living Nativity Scene. He has also contributed to the sports field as president of a local club and to historical dissemination.
Finally, the president of the Royal Madrid Football Federation, a resident linked to the municipality, will be honored for his constant support for the development of grassroots football and the professionalization of the sports environment in Galapagar. His role as the creator of Fútbol 7 in Madrid, a modality that revolutionized formative sports throughout the region, is highlighted.
