Tres Cantos has positioned itself among the ten most innovative and technological cities in Spain, according to the Local Economic Complexity Index, which analyzes territories' capacity to generate economic activity through skilled employment and talent.

The Madrid municipality of Tres Cantos has been recognized as one of the ten most innovative and technological cities in Spain. This achievement is based on the Local Economic Complexity Index, a study by the Cotec Foundation and Orkestra that assesses municipalities' capacity to foster economic development through knowledge and talent.
This recognition places Tres Cantos alongside major urban centers such as Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia, solidifying its role as a benchmark in the national innovation and technology landscape. The index goes beyond wealth or population size, analyzing factors like skilled employment, talent attraction, and growth potential.
Tres Cantos's economic model is built on strategic sectors including aerospace, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, advanced engineering, energy, and health sciences. The presence of leading companies such as GMV, Thales Alenia Space, Siemens, GSK, Sener, and Xoople has fostered an innovative ecosystem with international reach.
The report highlights that the city's differential value lies not only in the presence of major corporations but also in its ability to create an integrated economic environment that drives the establishment of new knowledge-intensive business initiatives. Other key factors contributing to its competitiveness include quality of life, connectivity, urban planning, and public-private collaboration.
This recognition is in addition to Tres Cantos's recent designation as a City of Science and Innovation with European projection by the Innpulso Network, under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
