The Algete City Council has unveiled the Security and Emergency Plan to be implemented over the four days of celebrations. This plan aims to ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy the festivities in an atmosphere of tranquility and fun.
Coordination of this operation will fall to the Local Police, Civil Protection, the Civil Guard, private security personnel, and emergency services. The Councilor for Security, Bruno Hebrero, detailed the measures.
A significant new feature this year is the continuous presence of two ambulances operating 24 hours a day throughout the festivities, from Thursday to Sunday. This initiative, driven by the government team led by Mayor Fernando Romo, represents a substantial increase in resources for emergency response.
The security deployment will involve a total of 37 Local Police officers, who will enhance surveillance in key celebration areas and conduct preventive checks. They will be joined by over 30 Civil Protection volunteers from Algete, supported by volunteers from nearby municipalities who have offered their resources.
Preventive checks, including drug detection using Local Police dogs, will focus on preventing the entry of narcotics, weapons, or other dangerous items into the municipality. These checks will be carried out at various points in Algete, as well as at its access points and visitor arrival areas.
Special attention will be paid to public transport, with inspections at bus arrival points, and to vehicles entering the municipality. The Civil Guard will collaborate in these tasks, potentially conducting trunk inspections with the assistance of detection dogs.
Furthermore, the collaboration of SUMMA 112 has been requested, particularly during high-attendance events such as bull runs and other taurine events, to ensure a rapid response to any incidents and to attend to any potential injuries.
Councilor Bruno Hebrero stated that "Algete is prepared to face these festivities" and highlighted the readiness of all personnel and resources. "We have a prepared deployment, with Local Police, Civil Protection, Civil Guard, private security, and all necessary means to act in any situation," he noted.
Mayor Fernando Romo called for responsibility from residents and visitors, urging them to enjoy the festivities "with respect, tranquility, and civility." He warned that "anyone with other intentions should know they will encounter a very attentive security force and preventive checks."
Romo emphasized that "there will be checks at access points, on public transport, and on vehicles arriving in the municipality." He added that the goal is for Algete to enjoy safe festivities in coexistence, and "we will not allow a few to disrupt that tranquility."
