The Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, highlighted this figure during his visit to the regional government's stand at the 10th edition of the Day of Professions, organized by the Interprofessional Union of the Community of Madrid (UICM). The event, held at the Royal Botanical Garden Alfonso XIII of the Complutense University of Madrid, under the slogan "Know the professions, discover your future, find your vocation," aims to inform students from the 4th year of ESO, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training (FP), and University about their academic and professional alternatives.
García Martín emphasized the growth of FP in the region, with 192,590 students enrolled this academic year, a 2.2% increase from the previous one. Currently, FP offers 168 titles across 22 professional families taught in 178 public centers, some with 100% employment rates.
In the university sector, nearly 360,000 students have begun their studies at the 20 universities in Madrid. The Community of Madrid accounts for 19% of Spain's university student population, making it a national and European leader in higher education.
This academic year marks the first implementation of the new multi-year funding model for the six public universities, with an allocation of 14.8 billion euros until 2031, enabling long-term strategic planning.
Additionally, the minister announced the public consultation for the Law on Professional Colleges. The region has 42 professional colleges with over 400,000 registered members, and the new regulations aim to adapt their functioning to current needs.
This edition of the Day of Professions includes participation from representatives of nearly 40 certified professions, along with 12 Madrid universities, offering information and counseling to attendees.
