ORCAM Kicks Off New Season with 21 Concerts in Madrid

The Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid presents an ambitious program featuring major symphonies and chamber works until June 2027.

The Foundation Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid (ORCAM) will launch its new season on October 6th. The program includes a total of 21 performances, spread across the National Auditorium and the Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo de El Escorial, running until June 2027.

The Symphonic Cycle will begin with The Creation of Everything, an interpretation of Mahler's Third Symphony conducted by Alondra de la Parra, ORCAM's artistic director. This performance will feature the Pequeños Cantores (Little Singers), led by Ana González, and mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston. The Pequeños Cantores and organist Juan de la Rubia will participate in this festive concert, which will be repeated the following day at the Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
In 2027, on January 25th, the program Evocation will bring together the Orchestra of the Community of Madrid and pianist Jorge Luis Prats, conducted by Lina González-Granados. The repertoire, inspired by Nazari themes, will include works by Manuel de Falla and Claude Debussy, as part of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the composer from Cadiz. The Symphonic Cycle will continue with Memory of a World on February 15th, and Passion and Ecstasy on February 23rd, conducted by Alondra de la Parra and Marc Minkowski, respectively, featuring major symphonies by Beethoven and Bruckner.
On March 15th, the ORCAM will present Duel of Shadows, led by Venezuelan conductor Diego Matheuz, with vocalists Jorge Puerta and Gustavo Castillo performing pieces by Antonio Estévez and Béla Bartók. French maestro Jean-Claude Casadesus will conduct Architectures of the Spirit on April 12th, while Alondra de la Parra will return on April 27th with Impossible Loves, alongside violinist Daniel Lozakovich, to perform works by Brahms and Prokófiev.
The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the ORCAM Choir will join forces on May 11th for End of the Journey, conducted by Pablo González, with a repertoire including works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. On May 31st, the Spanish premiere of The Red Queen by Gabriela Ortiz will take place. In the same evening, the Orchestra of the Community of Madrid will perform for the first time the Autumn Concerto for Trumpet by Arturo Márquez, with Pacho Flores as soloist.
The Symphonic Cycle will conclude on June 29th with Sound Geometries, led by Brazilian conductor Eduardo Strausser. It will feature cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan performing with the ORCAM. The recital will be dedicated to pieces by Igor Stravinsky, Edward Elgar, and Dmitri Shostakovich.
Meanwhile, the Chamber Time Cycle will commence on October 25th, 2026, at the National Auditorium with Believing Again. This concert will be led by the Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, conducted by Javier Carmena, and will feature Dvořák's acclaimed Stabat Mater.
On December 9th, Carmena will once again lead the Choir in Essences of Christmas Carols. On February 5th, 2027, Heide Müller will conduct the third event of the cycle, Music for Eternity. On April 25th, it will be the turn of Marcel Ortega i Martí with Around '27, a program dedicated to composers such as Falla, Esplá, Rodrigo, and Halffter. Finally, German conductor Florian Helgath will close the cycle on June 10th with The Three Bs, a concert focusing on works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Britten.
