Artist FOD (Francisco Olivares, born in Puerto Lumbreras, Murcia, 1973) has been honored with the Estampa Award 2026 by the Community of Madrid. The awarded work, Cuernos (2019), previously exhibited at the T20 gallery, will be acquired by the regional government for the collection of the Museum Center of Art Dos de Mayo (CA2M), located in Móstoles.
Mariano de Paco Serrano, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, presented the award and emphasized that this recognition, linked to the ESTAMPA Fair, supports contemporary creation, the work of gallerists, and the dissemination of this art form. The award, first given in 2008, annually distinguishes an artist present at the fair for the uniqueness of their work, enabling the incorporation of pieces by emerging creators into the CA2M collection.
The jury praised the solid aesthetic proposal of FOD, which incorporates references to avant-garde movements such as constructivism and the found object. They also valued the combination of seemingly disconnected materials, lending the work a poetic character with a touch of critical humor.
The jury members included José Lebrero Stals, from the Advisory Commission for the Acquisition of Works of Art of the Community of Madrid; Carlos Delgado Mayordomo, cultural manager, curator, and contemporary art critic; Manuel Lagos, Director General of Culture and Creative Industries; Tania Pardo, Director of the CA2M; Juana Arana, advisor for Plastic Arts of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport; and Asunción Cardona, Deputy Director General of Fine Arts.
