A delegation of twelve Paraguayan environmental experts visited Madrid and Segovia from October 5th to 9th to exchange knowledge on sustainable forest management and the environmental development of the Paraguayan Chaco.

The technical visit was part of the Triangular Cooperation Program for Latin America and the Caribbean of AECID, which brings together Paraguay, Costa Rica, and Spain. The CN INIA-CSIC hosted the delegation, comprising representatives from the National University of Asunción, the National Forest Institute, and the NGO A Todo Pulmón Paraguay Respira.
Throughout the week, experts addressed key topics for sustainable forest management, including forest dynamics and management, forest inventory using new technologies, the carbon cycle, and forest fire prevention.
The activity was coordinated by the International Relations Unit (URI) of CN INIA-CSIC, with technical execution by the Institute of Forest Sciences (ICIFOR). They were joined by experts from the Higher Technical School of Forestry Engineers (ETSIM), the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), the Valsaín Forest Center, the El Ejidillo Forest Nursery, and the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Emergencies.
These encounters are considered a valuable opportunity to strengthen international collaboration and advance towards more sustainable and resilient forest management.
