Publicly funded centers for Infant, Primary, and Special Education, as well as Integrated Centers for Artistic Studies in Music and Primary, will kick off the 2026/27 academic year on September 7th. The following day, September 8th, students in Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Professional Programs, Vocational Training, Professional Conservatories of Music and Dance, Schools and Integrated Centers for Artistic Studies in Music and Secondary Education, and Official Language Schools will return to classrooms.
The academic calendar, published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM), also sets the start of classes for students in Higher Artistic Studies for September 9th. Meanwhile, Adult Education Centers and the first year of Plastic Arts and Design cycles in Art Schools will begin their activities on September 21st.
Regarding holiday periods, Christmas break will run from December 23rd to January 10th. The non-teaching period for Easter will extend from March 19th to March 29th. General public holidays include October 12th, November 2nd, and December 7th and 8th, with additional non-teaching days on February 12th and 15th.
The academic year will conclude on June 18th for second cycle of Infant, Primary, Special Education, Secondary Education, Vocational Training, Artistic Studies in Music, Professional Conservatories of Music and Dance, Official Language Schools, Art Schools, and Adult Education Centers. First-year Baccalaureate students will finish classes on the same day, while for second-year Baccalaureate, dates will be adjusted for the University Entrance Exam (PAU). For Infant Schools and Children's Houses, classes will continue until July 31st.
