The Community of Madrid has organized more than 200 free environmental activities this summer to explore regional biodiversity and promote its knowledge and conservation.

Throughout weekends and holidays in July, August, and September, residents can participate in workshops, games, nature walks, exhibitions, and talks. These offerings, designed for various audiences, will take place at nine regional environmental education centers and in natural settings across the region, requiring prior reservation.
Notably, new initiatives focus on forest management, woodland richness, and the contributions of forests to the ecosystem. These are detailed in a guide published by the Network of Centers, under the Madrid Forestal seal.

"One of these is 'Por el Bosque Vivo' (For the Living Forest), scheduled for July 18 at the Caserío del Henares Estate. This is a volunteer program for all ages, conducted in collaboration with WWF Madrid, promoting participation in conserving the forests around the Henares and Jarama rivers, part of the Southeast Regional Park."

For the first time, some activities will allow participants to bring their dogs, provided they are leashed and meet health and socialization requirements. These events will be marked with the pet-friendly seal, such as the guided tour of the Luis Ceballos Arboretum on July 4.
The program includes workshops for young children, such as a sensory activity for babies aged 0-3 in Polvoranca on July 18, and learning about amphibians and their defense mechanisms in Chapinería on August 23. Children over five can also explore the Owl Trail in El Campillo on September 6.
For adults, there are proposals like participatory gardens, with a session on August 16 in Bosque Sur to identify seasonal vegetables. Nature walks will also be prominent, including a visit to the Somosierra dehesa on July 4 and guided tours in the Hayedo de Montejo.
Activities will be held at nine Environmental Education Centers, including El Águila (Chapinería), Arboreto Luis Ceballos (San Lorenzo de El Escorial), El Campillo (Rivas-Vaciamadrid), Caserío del Henares (San Fernando de Henares), Valle del Lozoya (Garganta de los Montes), Hayedo de Montejo (Montejo de la Sierra), Guadarrama Río Arena (Arroyomolinos), Polvoranca, and Bosque Sur (Leganés). Environmental experts will lead learning sessions on native flora and fauna.
Additionally, guided routes are offered at four visitor centers within the Community of Madrid's side of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park: La Pedriza, Valle de la Fuenfría, Valle del Paular, and Peñalara. Their schedules are available on the National Park's website.
