This summer, Madrid Metro passengers will face service interruptions on four lines. In addition to the known closure of line 10 for the renovation of the Bernabéu station, three more lines will experience significant cuts: line 7, line 9, and the Circular line (line 6).
The most extensive closure will affect line 7. Between August 2 and 28, the orange line will be closed between the Pitis and Gregorio Marañón stations. These works will impact 13 stations, many of which do not connect with other lines. The renovations focus on updating the signaling system and the track, as part of a broader plan for the entire line 7 up to the Estadio Metropolitano.
Line 6, known as the Circular line, will also see disruptions. The Moncloa station will be closed from August 1 to September 3. During this period, trains will not run between Argüelles and Ciudad Universitaria. The works include track renewal and platform reinforcements for the line's future automation.
Meanwhile, line 9B will have its service suspended between Rivas and Arganda del Rey from July 25 to August 13. Metro de Madrid reports that infrastructure renewal works will be carried out to improve service reliability and safety.
In all affected sections, the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) will provide free replacement bus services on the surface. Metro de Madrid has indicated that these dates were chosen based on lower passenger demand during the summer to minimize inconvenience.
These closures are in addition to those already underway on line 10, between Plaza de Castilla and Nuevos Ministerios, due to works at the Cuzco and Santiago Bernabéu stations, which will continue until August 21.
