The region now concentrates over 30% of the 420 such resources existing in Spain. Six of the nine Madrid public hospitals with these accreditations have expanded their portfolio after the latest ministerial order published in August.
La Paz Hospital adds five new designations, Gregorio Marañón adds three; Niño Jesús adds two; and the hospitals Ramón y Cajal, 12 de Octubre, and Clínico San Carlos each incorporate one.
The current distribution of CSURs in Madrid's public healthcare system is as follows: La Paz (43), Gregorio Marañón (25), Ramón y Cajal (15), 12 de Octubre (15), Clínico San Carlos (10), Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda (8), the pediatric Niño Jesús (7), La Princesa (4), and Getafe (2).
CSURs ensure the care of patients from all over Spain affected by complex or rare diseases requiring highly specialized care or procedures. Their designation is made periodically by Order of the Ministry of Health, following an agreement from the Interterritorial Council of the SNS, evaluating hospital applications for specific pathologies or diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.
