The Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council has formally requested the Community of Madrid's institutional collaboration to advance the project of covering Metro Line 9B as it passes through the municipality.

The Rivas council has reiterated its request for the construction of a fourth Metro station in the locality and expressed confidence that the Community of Madrid will continue the administrative processing so that the action, which will allow the extension of the Linear Park, can be executed as soon as possible. The work is expected to be put out to tender in early 2027 if the Community issues the corresponding reports.
For its part, the Regional Government has indicated that the project is in the technical assessment and evaluation phase, with no definitive approval yet from the General Directorate of Infrastructure. The regional executive has warned that the publicly displayed model could create a mistaken perception about the project's technical or administrative backing.
The Municipal Government, led by Aída Castillejo, explained that the exhibition during the Rivas Festivities was for informational purposes to detail the project's progress, its administrative status, and the planned urban transformation, as well as to gather citizen proposals for the future park covering over 135,000 square meters.
The City Council has recalled the invitation extended to the Minister of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, who ultimately did not attend the presentation. They emphasize that they have developed the technical solution, promoted the urban and environmental processing, and secured the necessary funding, despite it being a civil work requiring regional collaboration. The first covering section, completed in 2004, involved Community participation.
The project, initiated in 2019, has kept the Community of Madrid informed, requesting technical and institutional collaboration. The first regional report was issued on November 4, 2022. On July 19, 2024, the Municipal Plenary approved the necessary Special Plan, which already had favorable reports from the Community, including the environmental impact assessment.
In early March, the Council registered the basic project for covering Line 9B and creating a fourth station, for which it claims to have had a plot of land since 2019. They also demand improvements in the line's frequencies and capacity.
