The Pollen Network of the Community of Madrid (Palinocam) has registered a significant rise in pollen alerts, reaching over 43,000 subscribers to its service. The campaign, which ran from January 15 to June 30 and was coordinated by the General Directorate of Public Health, warned of high or medium pollen levels for 82 days. This figure considerably surpasses the previous year's records.
The monitoring system analyzes up to 25 different types of pollen particles. Among the most allergenic detected in the Madrid region are plantain, plane tree, grasses, olive tree, and cypress.
For the second consecutive year, pollen level information has been integrated into the Virtual Health Card. Users can customize their alerts by selecting the type of particle and geographic area of interest, and receive notifications for predicted increases. The Community of Madrid updates this data from Monday to Friday, including 48-hour forecasts. Control stations, spread across various Madrid municipalities, conduct studies 365 days a year with the collaboration of local city councils and the Faculty of Pharmacy at Complutense University.
