Residents of San Blas-Canillejas have voiced their concerns about the situation in Parque Paraíso, a space that, they claim, has experienced significant degradation in recent months. The area is frequented by individuals with addiction issues and homeless people, leading to an increase in altercations and disputes.
In response, the Government delegate in Madrid has proposed a meeting with representatives from the Community of Madrid, the capital's City Council, and residents of the district. The objective is to analyze the situation and define a “Comprehensive Plan” that combines reinforced police action with health and social interventions.
“"Only through coordination and integrated action can effective solutions be built."
The Government delegate emphasized the importance of joint work among administrations to offer a comprehensive solution to complex, multi-causal problems. He insisted on the need for police action to be complemented by social and health responses.
For his part, the mayor of Madrid expressed his concern for public safety and urged the Government delegate to focus on the city and the region. He called for a greater deployment of the National Police, arguing that the Municipal Police cannot substitute this work, especially given the increase in knife attacks and sexual assaults.
“"The increase in knife attacks in Madrid is very worrying, as is the increase in sexual assaults."
The City Council is working on installing security cameras in the area but insists on the need for police reinforcement from the Government to ensure citizen safety.
