The Community of Madrid presented the Buero Vallejo Awards this Friday, accolades celebrating non-professional theatrical creation and young talent in the region.

The play Bar Manolo, by the company Caín from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), took home the highest honor at the ceremony. This production also won the award in the University Theater category.
These awards, revived by the Regional Government in collaboration with the SGAE Foundation and the cultural association El Otro Muro, aim to foster the training and visibility of groups composed of young people aged between 14 and 26.
The jury, comprised of prominent figures in the performing arts such as actor Jimmy Castro and director Ainhoa Amestoy, also recognized the play Las heridas cerradas también sangran in the Schools and Companies category. The adaptation of La La Land: City of Stars, by Colegio San Alfonso de Madrid, received an award in the Schools and Institutes category.

The jury highlighted the acting talent of several young actors and actresses, granting distinctions to Luna Blasco Rodríguez, Asier Rojas, Vega Manzano, Robert Parra, and Mia Karol Benítez.

The Buero Awards, established in 2004 and running for 20 years until 2023, became a significant competition for young theater in Spain, involving over 2,000 groups and more than 200,000 young participants.
The winning productions will have the opportunity to be showcased in a week-long theater festival, complemented by stage training workshops.
