Madrid Prepares for a Cultural Weekend with the Start of San Isidro Festivities

The capital and its region offer a varied agenda of concerts, theater, dance, and exhibitions for all audiences.

The city of Madrid is gearing up for a weekend full of cultural and festive activities, marking the beginning of the traditional San Isidro Festivities with a diverse program including music, theater, and exhibitions.

Starting Friday, May 8, 2026, the Pradera de San Isidro will host musical performances by various artists. The Sound Isidro Vibra Mahou series also kicks off this weekend, offering concerts by emerging bands in several city venues such as El Sol and La Riviera.
Live music will be a highlight with Fito y Fitipaldis visiting the Movistar Arena, presenting their Aullidos tour. The Caja Mágica will be the setting for the first edition of Brunch Electronik Madrid, featuring an international DJ lineup. Additionally, rapper Lil Supa will perform at the Teatro Eslava, and Paco Candela will offer a free concert at the Romería del Rocío de Torrejón de Ardoz.
The theatrical offerings include plays such as Lexikon by the collective El Conde de Torrefiel at the Teatro María Guerrero, El efecto at the Teatro Marquina, and Panorama desde el puente at the Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa. The Teatro Valle-Inclán presents Tinieblas, while the Gran Teatro Pavón hosts Yo solo quiero irme a Francia. At Nave 10 Matadero, the comedy Guayominí continues, and the Teatro Bellas Artes pays tribute to Fernando Fernán Gómez with El hijo de la cómica.
Contemporary dance also has its place with the premiere of #THISISBEAUTY by Lisi Estaras at Conde Duque. The Royal Swedish Ballet presents Romeo and Juliet at the Teatro Real, and Goyo Montero with his company Staatsballett Hannover brings Goldberg to Nave 11 of Centro Danza Matadero. Sara Baras returns to the Teatro Gran Vía with her show Vuela.
Regarding exhibitions, the Espacio Ibercaja Delicias houses El Imperio Fan contraataca, an exhibition dedicated to Star Wars. The Ateneo de Madrid, within PHotoESPAÑA, displays war photographs by Arturo Pérez Reverte. The Central de Diseño de Matadero Madrid presents El botijo revisitado, and Sala Alcalá 31 hosts L’anima non finita by Lidó Rico. The Museo Casa Natal de Cervantes de Alcalá de Henares showcases Con capa y espada. La moda en época de Cervantes, and the Sala Canal de Isabel II exhibits the retrospective Nostalgia / Utopía by Ana Locking. Finally, CentroCentro presents El jardín revelado by Jose Quintanilla.
Popular festivities are also present with a free chotis master class in Plaza Arturo Barea, in Lavapiés, and the San Isidro Titiritero in Retiro Park. Valdemoro celebrates its patron saint festivities in honor of the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, and the Fresno de Torote Town Hall revives the traditional Fiesta Chica. The Andalusia Fair in Collado Villalba and the 32nd Tres Cantos Book Fair complete the offerings. The Círculo de Bellas Artes organizes an open house day for its centenary, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid celebrates the Italian Poetry Festival. La Casa Encendida dedicates a cycle to reggaeton, and the Madrid Arena hosts the spring finals of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC). The Women's Race celebrates its 22nd edition with a record number of participants.
