Madrid Leads in MIR and Health Sciences Training Positions in Spain

The Community of Madrid will offer 2,074 positions, a 10% increase since the start of the legislature, and expands its leadership in 36 specialties.

The Community of Madrid solidifies its position as a leader in specialized health training in Spain, offering 2,074 positions for Resident Intern Physicians (MIR) and other Health Sciences professionals for the upcoming year.

This figure represents over 16% of the 12,850 positions announced nationwide. The Madrid offer, approved by the Plenary of the National Health System Human Resources Commission, marks a 10% increase compared to the start of the legislature, adding 181 additional positions and 330 more healthcare professionals.
The region is launching the new specialty of Emergency Medicine with 60 positions, the largest offering in the country, ahead of Andalusia (36) and Catalonia (30). Furthermore, for the first time, all MIR specialties will be covered, including Legal and Forensic Medicine.
Madrid leads in offerings for 63% of Health Sciences disciplines (36 out of 57), excelling in areas with high professional needs such as Pediatrics (106 positions versus 81 in Andalusia) and Psychiatry (66 positions versus 60 in Catalonia).
Other specialties with strong offerings in Madrid include Radiodiagnosis (59 positions versus 48 in Catalonia) and Dermatology, Medical-Surgical and Venereology (36 positions versus 24 in Catalonia).
Regarding Resident Intern Nurses (EIR), Madrid offers 20 positions in Occupational Health Nursing, the highest number in the country. For Resident Intern Pharmacists (FIR), 38 positions are offered in Hospital Pharmacy.
