The Community of Madrid will activate its Territorial Civil Protection Plan (PLATERCAM) to alert phase this Friday, June 5th, due to the visit of Pope Leo XIV to the capital.

The Community of Madrid will activate its Territorial Civil Protection Plan (PLATERCAM) to alert phase this Friday, June 5th, due to the visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. The Madrid 112 Security and Emergencies Agency (ASEM112) will maintain this operational situation level 0 until next Tuesday, June 9th, owing to the large concentration of attendees expected in the capital.
This preventive measure, applied to municipal-level scenarios manageable with local resources, aims to enhance response capacity and joint coordination of emergency services for the massive arrival of pilgrims and visitors to the region.
As part of the operation, ASEM112 has arranged for a representative from the General Directorate of Civil Protection to be present at the Madrid City Council coordination center, serving as a permanent liaison between the regional and local administrations.
Additionally, the Madrid 112 Emergency Center will increase its daily staff to handle potential call surges. The activation of PLATERCAM at this phase represents the lowest of the four levels and poses no risk to the public.
