The Community of Madrid has activated the alert phase of the Territorial Civil Protection Plan from June 6 to June 9, due to the Pope's visit and the expected arrival of thousands of pilgrims.

The Community of Madrid will activate the Territorial Civil Protection Plan in alert phase this Friday for the visit of the Pope, which will take place between June 6 and June 9. This preventive measure responds to the large expected gatherings of attendees during the Pontiff's stay in the capital.
The Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency will maintain this operational status throughout the visit. This is the lowest level of the regional civil protection plan and, according to the regional government, poses no risk to the population. Its purpose is to ensure that, if necessary, additional support can be deployed rapidly.
This activation will enhance the response capacity and coordination of emergency services for the influx of pilgrims and visitors. The regional executive is confident that the deployment will strengthen the preparedness of Madrid's emergency system.
As part of the operation, a representative from the General Directorate of Civil Protection will join the coordination center of the Madrid City Council to monitor the municipal deployment in real-time. This liaison will facilitate communication and expedite decision-making for any incidents.
The Madrid 112 Emergency Center will also increase its daily staffing to handle a potential rise in calls, aiming to ensure a swift and effective response to any alerts concerning mobility, healthcare, security, or civil protection.
