The city of Madrid is set to host the inaugural Madrid Reinsurance Week, an event scheduled for September 15, 16, and 17, 2026. The primary objective is to solidify the Spanish capital as a crucial reference point for the reinsurance sector, connecting professionals from Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Driven by a consortium of insurance and reinsurance companies with a strong presence in Spain and growing activity in the Americas, the project aims to create a technical and professional platform to enhance Madrid's role in the international reinsurance market. Participants will include insurers, reinsurers, brokers, risk managers, and experts in complex risks.
The initiative is supported by industry associations such as AGERS (Spanish Association of Risk Management and Insurance) and IGREA (Association of Spanish Risk Managers). The event highlights the shared linguistic, business, and historical ties between Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean, fostering a space to address future challenges in insurance and risk transfer.
Madrid possesses strategic advantages, including its geographical location, connection with Latin America and the Caribbean, financial and legal infrastructure, and a consolidated ecosystem of specialized operators, positioning it favorably as a reference hub for international reinsurance business. Previously, the Spanish market lacked a dedicated platform with such global outreach.
Over three days, the Hotel Wellington will host conferences, roundtables, and working sessions. The agenda will cover critical topics such as global risk management, digital transformation, new coverages for emerging risks, and the role of Ibero-American markets in global risk redistribution. More than 300 professionals are expected to attend.
