The Community of Madrid has announced it will pay the entirety of aid for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ELA), ensuring no reductions based on beneficiaries' economic capacity will be applied.

The Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, announced on Wednesday after the Governing Council that the region's legal services have found the technical and legal pathway to ensure the full payment of these economic benefits.
This confirmation follows the regional executive's statement last week that the new aid approved by the central government was regulated by a norm that foresaw adjustments and reductions based on economic capacity, the cost of support services hired, and the receipt of similar benefits.

"It is completely false that we are going to apply any type of copayment, any reduction in the amounts of economic benefits for patients. The benefits from the Community of Madrid will be paid in full to all patients in accordance with the amounts established in the state regulations themselves."

García Martín criticized the central government for creating "chaos" by integrating this aid into the dependency autonomy system, noting that some autonomous communities had already warned about the lack of sense in such an integration. He highlighted the "brilliant" work of the Community of Madrid's legal counsel in finding a way to comply with regulations and guarantee the full payment of aid to all ELA patient beneficiaries.
