Data presented by the Security and Emergencies department of the Madrid City Council confirms that the vast majority of drivers complied with regulations, with 97% of preventive checks, accident screenings, and traffic violation tests returning negative results.
To ensure the continuity of these surveillance efforts, the local government has authorized a multi-year contract exceeding 700,000 euros. This investment is aimed at the technical maintenance of the 59 evidentiary breathalyzers and 74 rapid screening devices currently used by the police force.
The department head emphasized that these devices must remain operational 24 hours a day. The maintenance contract will cover mechanical and electrical repairs, as well as software updates, to ensure the evidentiary validity of measurements in administrative and judicial proceedings.
