Madrid is gearing up for the third edition of its Comic Fair, an event that has gained prominence on the city's cultural calendar. The gathering will take place from April 1st to 4th, 2027, at the emblematic Matadero Madrid space, which will once again serve as the epicenter for comics, graphic novels, and manga.
The organization, a collaboration between the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sport of the Madrid City Council and the Madrid Booksellers Association, is already working on preparations with the goal of surpassing the figures from the previous edition. The second event, held in March 2026, already marked significant growth, expanding from 36 to 60 exhibitors and recording a 34% increase in sales.
The cultural program of the 2nd Madrid Comic Fair also saw a notable expansion, with 32 events attracting 2,840 attendees. A particularly striking figure was the number of signing sessions, which rose to 297, featuring the participation of 142 authors, underscoring the strong interest from fans.
The fair is characterized by its dual nature: a commercial area where bookstores and publishers showcase their new releases and facilitate contact with authors, and a comprehensive cultural program with meetings, talks, and activities for all audiences. This combination aims to attract both experienced readers and new followers of the ninth art.
For the 2027 edition, the organization plans to enhance the attraction of family audiences and provide earlier communication of the program. Furthermore, efforts are being made to improve coordination among bookstores, publishers, authors, and the administration, in addition to incorporating new experiences to enrich the visit to the venue.
“"This fair is much more than a four-day event; it is the great showcase that allows us to highlight the tireless work that our specialized bookstores carry out 365 days a year. We want the public visiting us at Matadero to discover that in Madrid there is a network of professionals who make the ninth art their permanent home."
With this third edition, Madrid reaffirms its commitment to comics, graphic novels, and manga, consolidating its position as a cultural benchmark in Spain. Details regarding the official poster, the list of participating exhibitors, and the complete program will be revealed in the coming months.
