The Governing Council has processed a new Framework Agreement that will unify the purchase of these medical devices. The contract, designed to ensure supply in public health centers, has an initial duration of two years, which may be extended for another two.
Stents are small mesh tubes implanted in coronary arteries to keep them open when they are blocked or narrowed by cholesterol plaque buildup. Through a minimally invasive technique, these devices help restore blood flow in patients.
This treatment is essential in the Madrid public health system, used for both chronic coronary disease and emergency situations, such as myocardial infarctions.
According to the regional executive, this centralized purchasing model not only guarantees the continuous supply of devices to public hospitals but also improves resource management and procurement cost-efficiency.
