The Madrid Regional Transport Consortium has added three new trails to its hiking program, providing easy access to natural landscapes via interurban bus lines departing from Plaza de Castilla.

The initiative aims to promote healthy leisure and environmental awareness, allowing users to reach the municipalities of Bustarviejo and Manzanares El Real using only regional public transport.
The first route covers 25.6 kilometers along the Cañada Real Segoviana, connecting Bustarviejo to Manzanares El Real. This path crosses ecologically significant areas such as Hoya de San Blas and the surroundings of the Santillana reservoir, offering flexibility for staged hiking.
The second proposal is the ascent to Pico Mondalindo, a 12-kilometer circular route notable for its historical value, passing through ancient silver mines. Meanwhile, the third route, La Vuelta al Yelmo, allows hikers to explore the La Pedriza area, one of the region's most iconic granite formations.
With these additions, the network now reaches a total of 55 available itineraries. The main goal is to establish public transport as the primary gateway for responsible tourism in the mountains, with maps and technical data available through the Consortium official channels.
