The Madrid Railway Museum, managed by the Foundation of Spanish Railways (FFE), will host the 17th European Researchers' Night in Madrid. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the technology transforming the railway sector, focusing on the design of cleaner, safer, and more current transport solutions.
One of the highlights is 'The 3R Supertrain: Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle'. This interactive workshop will explore how circular economy principles are applied to the design of future trains and tracks. Participants can touch real train and track components to understand their materials and how they are given a second life, as well as admire spectacular models built from 100% reused materials illustrating the railway network's operation. The activity, using materials provided by REDALSA, is aimed at families interested in technology and sustainability.
Another offering is 'The Digital Brain Powering Future Trains', in collaboration with Siemens Mobility. This session will focus on how modern trains function as 'computers on wheels,' thanks to digital systems ensuring safe, fast, and eco-friendly journeys. It will cover advancements in zero-emission ecological trains, such as models consuming 30% less energy or running on hydrogen and batteries. It will also explain intelligent driving systems and the use of sensors for predictive maintenance, enabling trains to operate driverless on some networks.
The Siemens Mobility activity is designed for upper primary school students and educational centers, fostering the design of tomorrow through technology and sustainability. Both activities require prior reservation and will take place at the Madrid Railway Museum (Pº de las Delicias, 61).

Registration for both activities will open on September 14th and can be made via email to educatren@ffe.es. The sessions will be held in the morning, with two slots per activity, on Friday, September 25th, and Saturday, September 26th, depending on the session.
