The Ifema Madrid exhibition center has finalized preparations to host the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled from September 11 to 13, anticipating an attendance of 350,000 people. The circuit's grandstands are completely sold out, achieving a technical 'sold out' with over 100,000 seats.
Ticket purchase origins show significant international participation, with over 32% of sales made from abroad. Key countries include the United Kingdom, United States, Mexico, France, Portugal, Argentina, Colombia, and the Netherlands.
José Vicente de los Mozos, President of the Executive Committee of Ifema Madrid, described the event as a "unique experience" that will make the region a "reference point." He highlighted the focus on 'hospitality' areas, with a capacity for 15,000 people, and the 'paddock club' for 3,500, 75% of whom are international, both fully booked. In total, over 45,000 international visitors are expected, in addition to 35,000 from other parts of Spain.
The event's primary revenue streams will be from hospitality and sponsorships. De los Mozos stated that sponsorships have exceeded 137 million euros, a figure expected to cover the entire infrastructure cost of the circuit. The average spending per visitor during the F1 weekend is estimated at 1,680 euros, contributing to Madrid's international positioning as a leading city.
The Grand Prix's impact will also drive the expansion of Ifema Madrid. According to De los Mozos, the projected revenue for this year is 300 million euros, with over 200 million in cash reserves. These funds have financed not only the circuit but also the expansion of Valdebebas and upgrades to pavilions 1 and 2, increasing capacity for congresses and fairs.
