A 55-year-old woman was seriously injured this Saturday following a head-on collision between two vehicles on Avenida de la Ilustración, in the Madrid district of Fuencarral-El Pardo.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 PM. The victim was trapped inside her car and had to be freed by the Madrid City Council Firefighters through extrication maneuvers. After being stabilized by paramedics at the scene, she was urgently transported to Hospital La Paz in serious condition.
The driver of the other involved vehicle, aged 30, sustained minor injuries and received on-site treatment, not requiring hospitalization. The accident happened on a stretch of road that is usually fluid on weekends but experiences constant traffic due to its connection with the M-30.
The Madrid Municipal Police has launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the crash, analyzing factors such as speed, visibility, or a possible loss of control.
The incident caused temporary traffic disruptions while rescue and medical attention operations were carried out, although traffic returned to normal shortly after.
