74-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Hit by Car on Madrid's Avenida de América

The incident occurred around 11:00 PM as the victim was crossing the road outside a designated pedestrian area, sustaining fatal injuries.

A 74-year-old man lost his life on Wednesday night after being hit by a car while crossing Avenida de América in Madrid.

The tragic event took place around 11:00 PM, near number 4 on the aforementioned avenue. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway at a point not designated for crossing when he was struck by a vehicle in motion.
As a result of the severe impact, the victim suffered extremely serious injuries and went into cardiorespiratory arrest. SAMUR emergency medical teams were quickly dispatched to the scene of the accident.
SAMUR paramedics initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, attempting to revive the man for approximately 40 minutes. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful, and his death was confirmed.
A psychologist from the emergency medical service also provided assistance to the driver of the car involved in the collision.
The Traffic Judicial Unit of the Madrid Municipal Police has taken charge of the investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this unfortunate accident.
